Internet Searching Tips
- Tips.
The Internet can be an excellent means of conducting a scholarship
search! The quantity of information and the speed with which you can
gain access increases daily, so be sure to take advantage. To begin
a scholarship search on the Web, simply go to any search engine (Yahoo,
Alta Vista, etc.) and in the search window, type in "scholarships
search services." Then go from there! As you will see, there
is a wealth of information, and you will find links to excellent search
services. Visit as many service links as possible.
- Be
Honest. Submit truthful information when building your profile,
so that the search service can return accurate and timely information
to you.
- Caution.
Double-check all information you receive--some awards listed on the
Internet may be inaccurate, or no longer active. The Internet is a
wonderful tool, but it is subject to the same issues you will find
with regular mail.
- WATCH
OUT. You should not have to provide a credit card or other bank
account number to receive information about financial assistance.
Any service that makes this request should be vigorously checked before
you choose to provide such information. Don't pay someone else to
watch you do your homework.
