Other Scholarship Awards - Disabilities

The Office of Services for Individuals with Disabilities offers The Agee Memorial Dyslexia Scholarship Fund and The James Larmour Scholarship for Students with Learning Disabilities.   • Agee Memorial Dyslexia Scholarship Fund was established by the late Bertha Agee. This academic scholarship is presented for application to Eastern Kentucky University students with an established and documented Specific Learning Disability in Reading and/or Dyslexia.
    Deadline for Application: June 1, 2008 (Forms are in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print.)

    Two academic scholarships consisting of $1,000.00 each will be awarded towards the cost of tuition, to each of two students who meet the following criteria. If tuition is paid for by another grant, scholarship or agency, the award will go directly to the student.

    Students applying for the scholarship MUST fill out the appropriate form (available for download above) and return to:

    One scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman. The other scholarship to a current student in good academic standing. The scholarship recipient may only receive funds once, the scholarship is non-renewable. Students not selected may apply each academic year. The scholarship is active for EKU students only and is not transferable to another educational facility.


  • The James Larmour Scholarship for Students with Learning Disabilities has been established at Eastern Kentucky University to promote and support the educational needs of deserving students who are diagnosed with learning disabilities.
    Deadline for Application: June 1, 2008
    One scholarship totaling $350.00 will be awarded annually to a deserving student meeting the following criteria:

    1. A current Eastern Kentucky University student or an incoming freshman that has met University Admissions requirements. Current students need to be in good standing with EKU. Incoming students need to provide a copy of the acceptance letter from the Admissions Office.
    2. The student must have appropriate and current documentation that states the presence of a specific learning disability. This documentation must either accompany the attached application or be on file at the Office of Services for Individuals with Disabilities Office. Documentation must meet the guidelines set forth for LD documentation from the Office of Individuals with Disabilities.
    3. Applicant must request consideration for the scholarship in writing and provide within the body of the letter why and how such a scholarship would benefit the educational needs of the student.

    The Larmour Scholarship is renewable (student could be awarded more than once). Student would need to apply each academic year. The need for financial aid is a strong prerequisite. This is a competitive scholarship.
