Other Scholarship Awards - KEESFor more specific information please refer to the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) website at: www.kheaa.com or contact 1-800-928-8926. If a student is eligible to receive the KEES award they will be notified by KHEAA after high school graduation. The amount of the "KEES" award is determined by a student's high school grades and highest ACT score. "KEES" money cannot be increased once a student has graduated from high school. The University request funds for all students who could be eligible (determined by high school graduation date) and reports the hours enrolled to KHEAA approximately 2 weeks after classes begin for the fall and spring semesters. Once KHEAA receives the lists, they notify the University of eligible students and the actual award amounts. The "KEES" money is typically disbursed to the students account one month after the first day of class. If a student has a zero account balance, they will receive a refund check that will be mailed to their permanent address. If there is an outstanding balance on an account, the "KEES" money will be applied to the account. If the amount owed exceeds the "KEES" award, it will be the responsibility of the student to make necessary payment arrangements with the office of Billings and Collections prior to the first day of class. "KEES" Renewal The University will report the grades of all students that receive the "KEES" money after the completion of the spring semester. "KEES" eligibility is on a whole year award basis. If a student is awarded a "KEES" award, they will be awarded it for the fall and spring semesters. In order to renew your "KEES" award, you must maintain the following grade point average (GPA): 1st year to 2nd year: GPA: 2.5 After 2nd year: GPA: 3.0 (please note that if your GPA is between a 2.5 and 2.99 you will only receive half of your "KEES" award) If you are registered for less than six credit hours, you will not receive your "KEES" award. If you are registered for 6-11 credit hours, you will receive a pro-rated amount of your "KEES" award. If you are registered as a full-time student, have remaining "KEES" eligibility and meet the grade requirements you will receive your full "KEES" award. If you have questions regarding actual "KEES" awards you can review your status online at: www.kheaa.com or call the KHEAA office at 1-800-928-8926.
